The gates open at 7:30 am, kids warm up at 8:45 am and the tournament begins at 9:00 am. A detailed event schedule will be released a few days prior to the tournament.

THE CALIFORNIA STATE RANKING

 OPERATES THROUGH A SCORING SYSTEM THAT REWARDS ATHLETES AND ACADEMIES BASED ON THEIR PERFORMANCE IN COMPETITIONS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

THE STANDARD SCORING AWARDS 9 POINTS FOR 1ST PLACE, 3 POINTS FOR 2ND PLACE, AND 1 POINT FOR 3RD PLACE, ALTHOUGH THIS CAN VARY DEPENDING ON THE IMPORTANCE OF THE EVENT.

AT THE END OF THE SEASON, ATHLETES AND ACADEMIES WITH THE HIGHEST SCORES ARE RECOGNIZED AS STANDOUTS IN THE CIRCUIT.

POINTS EARNED BY EACH ATHLETE ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR ACADEMY’S RANKING, FOSTERING HEALTHY COMPETITION AMONG REGIONAL SCHOOLS

EACH ATHLETE ACCUMULATES POINTS BY SECURING 1ST, 2ND, OR 3RD PLACE IN THEIR RESPECTIVE CATEGORIES.

THIS SYSTEM ENCOURAGES PRACTITIONERS’ TECHNICAL GROWTH AND STRENGTHENS THE SENSE OF TEAMWORK WITHIN THE GRACIE BARRA COMMUNITY.

WEIGHT ALLOWANCE

Athletes are allowed to weigh up to 1 lb over their weight class. For example, in the 107 lbs weight class, we accept up to 108.0 lbs — anything above that (e.g., 108.1 lbs) will result in disqualification. There is no minimum weight limit; athletes may weigh less than their weight class.
